Raffles
Description
A Jim French Productions series based on E. W. Hornung's stories. A. J. Raffles was England's most renowned cricketer whose acquired taste for the better things in life cost more than he made playing cricket, so he became a highly proficient burglar; his friend and partner-in-crime Bunny Manders is his chronicler. Inspector Mackenzie of Scotland Yard, assisted by Sergeant Clyde, is convinced Raffles is The Gentleman Thief and is determined to catch him. The series mixed adaptations of the original Raffles stories with brand-new pastiches. During the Golden Age of Radio there were two CBS series: Raffles, the Amateur Cracksman (six-month run in 1934) and The Adventures of Raffles (1942-1943). John Barrymore, Ronald Colman and David Niven played Raffles on screen.
