Chicken Plucker
Joey Adams is the host of this new CBS radio show. On his first night, he jokes about the studio being messy because Arthur Godfrey used it before and left behind so much old money that it took five workers just to sweep it up. The show's idea is to test how well married couples know each other. Mr. and Mrs. Fox have been married for eighteen years. He works as a chicken-plucker, which gives Joey a chance to make a joke about getting plucked at a nightclub. Mrs. Fox says she is a housewife, but it turns out her husband does most of the housework. When Joey learns their fifteen-year-old daughter does no chores, he jokes that she must be married too. Mrs. Fox handles all the money and gives her husband lunch money. Joey tells a funny story about a couple where the wife gets Tuesday nights out with friends and the husband gets Friday nights out with friends. George answers one question correctly about Babe Ruth's real first name and the couple wins $75.25. Next, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Patrick are visiting New York on their honeymoon. He answers two out of four questions and they also leave with $75.25. Then Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baker come on. They live in New Jersey, and she came from Austria. She worked at a dance school when Frank walked in. Joey makes a joke about Frank
