CBS crime series. Rooted in an unsold audition, 'You Take Ballistics,' for a proposed crime anthology series, The Hunters. Pursuit premiered 10/27/1949 and by its second episode became a police procedural following fictional Scotland Yard Inspector Peter Black, a relentless man hunter, assisted by Sergeant Moffet under Chief Inspector Harkness. The series featured dual narration; from Spring 1950 Bill Johnstone provided opening/closing narration while Inspector Black narrated scene changes. Theme: 'When Man hunts Man!'
