After a New York hotel robbery goes wrong, gambler James Marius, shot in the arm, flees as multimillionaire Theodore Warren is found murdered. Desperate to find his elusive partner Lou Jackson and clear his name, Marius hops trains and buses across the country, using aliases and back-alley help while the police close in.
