Monsieur Beaucaire

During the 1700s, a French nobleman named Louis Philippe de Valois, who was related to King Louis XV, wrote a letter meant for young people to read about two hundred years later. In his letter, he explained how he pretended to be a regular guy called Monsieur Beaucaire so nobody would know he came from a fancy family. The King got mad at Louis because he wanted him to marry someone important, but Louis had a clever plan. He talked the Ambassador to London into letting him go to England as his barber. Everything went fine until Louis spotted the lovely Lady Mary Carlyle and decided he wanted to meet her.
