When Lucy Lester confronts her husband Ralph with the fact that he not only has been unfaithful but also has squandered her insurance, he panics and unintentionally chokes her to death. Then he plots with his secretary girlfriend to make it seem that Lucy has been kidnapped and killed by her abductors. The police seem to buy this explanation for the moment.
A man accidentally kills his wife and tries to hide what he did, but his lies keep getting bigger and more complicated until he can't find a way out. This dark and true-to-life tale ends badly, making people think about how lies always catch up to you and how doing wrong things comes with a heavy cost.
The dark but realistic story of a man who, while trying to cover up the accidental murder of his wife, becomes entangled in a web of deceit so complex that he cannot escape it. The grim conclusion leaves the listener pondering the futility of deceit and the price of wrongdoing.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
