Appointment at Sarajevo

In the colorful town of Sarajevo, a historic meeting occurs between Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Serbian leaders. After a successful conference, which is marred by the assassination of the Archduke and his wife, Sophie, Dr. Eisenmenger, the Archduke's physician, recalls the events leading up to the murders and the terrible consequences that followed.

Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir apparent to the Austro-Hungarian throne, commits the unpardonable sin: He marries the woman he loves, Countess Sophie Shutnek, who in his family’s opinion is only a glorified maid servant. Their tragic, trouble-filled life is detailed in this dramatization, from their meeting at a grand ball in Prague, given in the honor of Franz, until their assassination on June 28, 1914, by a Serbian nationalist in Sarajevo.
