Arctic Encounter

Two American Air Force pilots crash in the frozen Arctic and get stuck with a Russian flight crew. They discover a strange alien creature, and it takes over two of the men, while the rest battle to kill the monster and save their friends.

Lts. Stewart “Chappie” Chapman and George “Pappy” Padadopolis, on patrol over the Arctic, see a crashed Russian plane on the ice below. While investigating, their plane strangely loses power, their radio goes dead and they crash-land near the Russian plane. Chappie ventures out in the 70-below temperature and meets Olga, who has survived the crash of her plane. Neither can explain what had happened, but both know they can live for no more than two or three hours.

Two U.S. Air Force officers stationed in the Arctic crash-land their plane and find themselves stranded with a Soviet crew. They encounter an alien intelligence, and two of the men merge with it, but the others fight to destroy it and regain their humanity.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
