Black Widow

In a wealthy American town, mechanic John Hawthorne tries to clean up his trade union while dealing with the clash between wanting success and staying honest. When John dies, his worried wife Martha is pushed to get revenge and turns into a spider to hunt down those who wronged them.

John Hawthorne, a union presidential candidate, dies in a hit-and-run accident. Though police find no leads, his widow Martha suspects the opposing faction ordered the killing. Martha visits Caro, a reader and advisor, who gives her a black bottle with cryptic instructions. Martha then schemes to create an opportunity for revenge against her husband's political enemies.

The tension between ambition and corruption in a prosperous American town is focused on John Hawthorne, a mechanic who seeks to reform his trade union, and Martha, his anxious wife who is finally driven to revenge by the death of her husband. She becomes a spider, enacting her vengeance.
