Boomerang

A young woman struggling with problems in a small seaside town feels pulled between sadness over losing her father and being fixated on an author who wants to move to England. Her mother and a close family friend work to stop her from falling into dark magic and losing her mind. In the end, they choose to find help by traveling to Stockholm.

Away at boarding school when her father became ill, 16-year-old Carol was not asked to be at home with him when he died. She has not forgiven her mother for this, has spent much of her time in her room, and has fallen in love with a much older man, an English novelist, whom she met at the beach. When he does not respond, she tries to cast a spell over him. But she suffers more than he does: first in an auto accident, then with a self-inflicted bullet wound in her shoulder.
