In an 1880s frontier town filled with tension, a woman named Mrs. Harriet Truesdale comes to collect diamonds that belonged to her dead husband. The people in town talk quietly about her sad story, while a banker and his partner plan to cheat her out of the diamonds. However, Harriet outsmarts them all when she reveals that her diamonds are not real and her supposed murders never happened, which makes the sheriff and his woman think about what her trick was meant to teach them.
In a tense 1880s frontier town, Mrs. Harriet Truesdale arrives to claim her late husband’s diamonds. The townsfolk whisper of her tragic tale, while the banker and his partner plot to swindle her. But Harriet turns the tables when she shows her diamonds are fake and her murders a hoax, leaving the sheriff and his girl to ponder the moral of her charade.
They always say members of a western town quickly discover that diamonds are not always a girl’s best friend, especially when times change as the years go by.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
