In Another Place

Sheriff Joe Morrison investigates the murder of Alvin Hartfield in a small town where suspicion falls on his wife, Tamar, and her lover, Ben Blankenship. Gossip hounds Percy, a mechanic who discovers evidence against Ben and demands hush money but is then murdered himself. After a tense standoff, Joe arrests Ben and Tamar.

Tamar Hartsfield and her boyfriend, Ben Blakenship, are outraged when Sheriff Joe Morrison tells them he knows, but can’t prove, they murdered Tamar’s rich, elderly husband. Both have perfect alibis: They were somewhere else when the crime was committed. But Morrison persists and ultimately comes upon a tiny, insignificant loose end that Tamar and Ben failed to realize could be their undoing.

In a small town, Sheriff Joe Morrison looks into the killing of Alvin Hartfield. People think his wife Tamar and her boyfriend Ben Blankenship did it. Percy, a car mechanic who loves spreading rumors, finds proof that Ben is guilty. He tries to make Ben pay him money to stay quiet, but then someone kills Percy too. After a dangerous face-off, Joe catches both Ben and Tamar.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
