Mad Monkton

A curse haunts the Moncton family like a shadow over their name, and it can only be broken if they locate the unburied body of Stephen Moncton's uncle. Stephen and his friend David try to find it. As they hunt for the body, the curse kills more people, until the abbey burns down in flames, and Anne's baby on the way brings hope for a fresh start.

The Moncton family curse, which hangs like a dark cloud over the name, can only be lifted if they find Stephen Moncton's uncle's unburied body. Stephen and his friend David attempt its recovery. While they search, the curse claims more victims, until finally the abbey is destroyed in a fire, and Anne's unborn child signals the dawning of a new day.

Ann Elmsie, a 20-year-old woman engaged to Stephen Monkton, faces uncertainty about their future together due to concerns that madness has run through generations in the Monkton clan. When Stephen travels to Europe and his correspondence becomes increasingly sparse, Ann enlists her brother David to locate him. The central mystery involves Stephen's cryptic references to a ghastly secret that could impact their relationship indefinitely.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
