Madame Sirocco

A worried dad asks a fortune teller to help locate his lost daughter, but a doubting detective looks for real evidence to solve her weird vanishing. After they discover the girl was hiding upstairs in the house, the case gets closed and the detective feels even more sure that smart thinking beats magic.

Maria Svetic is aghast when her old-fashioned thinking father, Johannes, tells her she is going to marry a man more than twice her age. Even though she has never disobeyed her father, Maria runs away, and a frantic Johannes calls the police. Lt. Luther, with very little help from either Johannes or Maria’s friends, gets nowhere in his search. Frustrated, Johannes enlists the aid of a psychic, Madame Sirocco, whom Lt. Luther knows as Thelma Hoffinger, a true-blue con artist.

A distraught father turns to a psychic to find his missing daughter, while a skeptical investigator searches for logical clues that will explain her strange disappearance. When the girl is found hiding in the attic, the mystery is solved but the investigator's faith in human ingenuity is reaffirmed.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
