Men Without Mouths

A gangster adopts the daughter of a dead comrade and sees her off faithfully until her happy marriage. With approaching old age however, he is tormented with visions of men without mouths despite the sincere aid from his sworn daughter.

Horrified by encounters with strangers who seem to have no mouths, former gangster Joe Gannet consults Dr. Hammel, his niece Kitty’s fiancé. Hammel, who knows of Joe’s past, comes up with the theory that these apparitions are manifestations of the guilt Joe must feel for the crime syndicate “informers” he has killed. But Kitty makes it crystal clear that these “men without mouths” are a premonition of Joe’s future, not his past, when she learns the truth about his life.

A criminal takes in his dead friend's daughter and raises her with care until she finds happiness in marriage. But as he grows older, he starts seeing disturbing visions of men with no mouths, even though his adopted daughter tries her best to help him.
