Messenger from Yesterday

After a college professor purchases a life-size statue of a pharaoh as a birthday present for his wife, he is amazed when the figure comes to life and begins to do housework. All too soon, his amazement turns into an unhealthy obsession.

Ramsey West, who teaches Egyptology at Imhotep College, near Boston, gives his wife, Gloria, a life-size statue of an Egyptian Pharaoh as a birthday present. When Gloria leaves for Chicago to care for her ill sister, the statue takes over her housework, including the vacuuming. It even prepares a steak dinner for Ramsey and his psychologist friend Frank. It’s a real treat; the Wests haven’t had a steak on their table since the beginning of a double-digit inflation.

A college teacher buys his wife a full-sized pharaoh statue for her birthday, but gets shocked when it comes alive and starts cleaning the house. Before long, his surprise becomes a dangerous fixation.
