Pie in the Sky

A young man accidentally gets a weird present when tobacco pipes get switched around, giving him the power to see what will happen next. When he tries to use this ability to make money fast, he mistakenly sends himself and his wife to a different world.

After picking up a strange gift as a result of a tobacco pipe mix-up, a young man gains the ability to foresee the future. In an attempt to use it in a get-rich-quick scheme, he accidentally transports himself and his wife to an alternate dimension.

Luther Temple’s plan to put his wife’s inheritance in the bank at a comfortable 5 percent interest runs into a snag when he meets Professor Tonneau. The professor’s prediction of millions to be made in the new fields of automobiles and airplanes tempts Temple until he has a vision of what his potential wealth could do to his happy marriage.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
