A woman from America whose husband died travels through Italy with a coworker. Their tour bus stops working, so they must walk to Pompeii on foot. At that place, the woman has an odd dream.
Jennifer Matthews, depressed by the death of her husband, half heartedly agrees to take a summer tour of Italy with her friend, Olga Peterson. One minute they are standing in the midst of the ancient ruins of Pompeii and, in the next moment, Olga is gone, the ruins have disappeared and in their place stands the old town, alive again. Jennifer tries to warn her new friends about the impending destruction of Pompeii, but nobody believes her.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
