Something in the Air

A dad tries to prevent his daughter from agreeing to marry an older man who doesn't have much money, believing he's wrong for her. However, a mysterious mental connection appears to unite the pair no matter how hard the father works to keep them apart, and the couple even helps make it happen.

Destitute middle-aged artist Dan Fogarty calls on wealthy painter Max Avery for reasons he can’t explain. Max, also for reasons he can’t explain, suspects Dan and his daughter Nina, only 18, have fallen in love. Learning later he’s right about Dan and Nina, a relationship he’s against, Max becomes agitated by Nina’s ability to know what Dan is doing no matter where he is and Dan’s capacity for knowing Nina’s every move. Somehow he must put a stop to all this clairvoyancy.

A father attempts to stop his young girl from consenting to what he deems to be a poor match with an older man with little financial standing. But a strange psychic link seems to bring the two together despite his best attempts, even with the couple helping!

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
