The Cezar Curse

A man stays with a wealthy Spanish family and becomes obsessed with a portrait of a woman on their wall. Though the woman in the painting was cruel when she lived, he doesn't care - until he falls for her daughter, who carries a dark curse.

A man visits a Spanish aristocratic family and falls in love with a woman whose picture hangs on the wall. The woman was wicked in life but it bothers him little as he falls for her daughter who bears an evil curse.

George Capewell is recovering from a near fatal illness and is sent by his doctor to live in the Spanish countryside with the Cezar family, mother, daughter and son, on one condition—that he share not the slightest intimacy with any of them. By chance, he meets the daughter Marla, falls in love with her, and proposes marriage. But she is trapped by a nameless but genuine fear, and so she cannot accept.

Richard Kiley began his professional career on radio and played many character roles, often as a heavy, in numerous Hollywood films of the 1950s. Among his films are The Mob (1951), The Sniper (1952), Pickup on South Street (1953), The Blackboard Jungle (1955), The Phoenix City Story (1955), The Spanish Affair (1958) and The Little Prince (1974).
