The Chinaman Button

A man who desperately needs money gets the chance to make a fortune by killing someone without anyone knowing who did it.

A perfectly anonymous murder offers the opportunity to earn a fortune for a man in dire financial straits.

Phil Thurston doesn't believe that anyone, not even scrupulously honest Walter Van Haas, is above compromising in order to make money. Phil sets out to prove his theory in a highly sophisticated version of the "Chinaman Button," a childish game played by two adults that soon turns deadly.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
