The Death Watch
A man wins a cursed pocket watch in a game of luck. The watch slowly takes over his mind as he becomes obsessed with keeping it running.
A woman engaged to Charles Fleming discovers her father, a poor gambler, has pledged her to Count Dravanescu to settle debts. Fleming, a skilled card player, defeats Dravanescu in poker to reclaim his betrothed. However, Fleming also wins a mysterious gold pocket watch requiring daily winding by 6:00 P.M., with the threat that its owner will die if this task is neglected. The tension escalates when Fleming unexpectedly becomes separated from the watch before the critical deadline.
After winning a game of chance, a man gains possession of a cursed pocket watch. He is slowly consumed by the obsession to keep it wound.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
