The Deserter

While trying to prevent the family camper from rolling off a cliff, Tom is pinned beneath it. A mountaineer, Chad Walker, comes to their aid, sets Tom’s damaged legs, builds a fire and a lean-to, provides food, but refuses absolutely to take them down the mountain to the nearest open road.

A wilderness expert rescues a man, woman, and baby trapped by falling rocks in California's Sierra mountains. He agrees to keep them alive but won't lead them home to safety.

A mountain man saves a couple and their infant who are stranded by a landslide in the Sierra mountains of California. While he is willing to help them survive, he refuses to guide them back to civilization.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
