The Fly Swatter

A pick-pocketing couple become victims of a bizarre scam when they take jobs as domestics for a nouveau rich family.

Lou and Lil Valentine used to steal from people but now work honest jobs on a big property outside the city. When their strange bosses start acting weird, the married couple finds a machine that mixes bad thoughts into their dreams. Lou, who likes facts and proof, has trouble believing what they found, but Lil, who trusts her gut feelings, knows the crazy story is real.

Lou and Lil Valentine are pickpockets turned honest workers in a suburban estate. The couple’s suspicion of their odd employers leads them to discover an indoctrinator, a device that muddles their dreams with unsettling thoughts. Lou, ever pragmatic, grapples with disbelief, while Lil, more intuitive, feels truth in the absurdity.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
