The Grey Ghost
Overcome by grief at the death of her race car driver father, a woman abandons her husband and loses herself in Italy. While roaming the city streets, she meets a talented driver whom she decides to sponsor. She learns the truth surrounding her father's accident while watching him race.
A woman devastated by her race car driver father's death leaves her husband behind and wanders lost through Italy. Walking the streets, she discovers a gifted driver and chooses to back him. As she watches him compete, she uncovers what really happened in her father's fatal crash.
Considering herself a complete failure, her marriage breaking up, her famous auto racing father dead from a freak accident, Kate Richards heads for Italy to refashion her life. Strangely, the only people she meets there are auto racers, one of whom she ultimately convinces to race in a car named after her father's favorite machine, the Grey Ghost. Even though she hopes it won't happen, the driver seems destined to repeat her father's mistake on the track.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
