The Haliday Prediction

It seems that every prediction Cash Haliday makes in his Friday newspaper column comes true. Does he have uncanny insight, some sort of ESP, or as his secretary/girlfriend thinks, do things come true because he predicts them.

Cash Haliday writes predictions in his Friday newspaper column, and they all happen exactly as he says they will. His secretary, who is also his girlfriend, wonders if he can see the future, has special mind powers, or if his predictions actually make things happen.

Columnist Cash Haliday, who writes a weekly prediction about underworld crime, police corruption and government misdeeds, has such a high batting average that his secretary accuses him of making things happen, just by writing about them. Al Cosden, a gangster with good police connections, threatens to kill Cash if his fortune-telling continues. Cash tries to ward off the mobster by publishing a prediction that could make Al incapable of murdering him.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
