The Horla

A man becomes fixated and frightened by a mysterious force that surrounds him, while also believing that a terrible evil hides inside a boat docked at the port, based on Maupassant's famous tale.

Guy de Maupassant attempts to convince his psychiatrist that his body is being consumed by a feeling of an invisible presence. After weeks of nightmares and the feeling like he's being watched and talked about all the time, he takes judgment into his own hands by attempting to take back the possession of his soul before it's decreased by impending tragedy and doom.

Maupassant's classic story about a man obsessed and terrorized by a presence that engulfs him. He is also convinced of a dreadful evil concealed in a ship anchored at the harbour.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
