The Intermediary

A man called Frank Ellington loses his mind when he inherits the home where his stepmother abused him as a child. His wife talks him into moving back there, but Frank starts to believe she is working for his dead stepmother's ghost.

Frank Ellingwood, a young, successful engineer, is left a sizable inheritance by his stepmother—provided he and his wife Laura, move into the Long Island mansion in which his stepmother lived and where he grew up, very unhappily. He says no to the money, but Laura visits the mansion, falls in love with it and insists they move in. Frank reluctantly agrees, but soon wishes he hadn't. Laura begins to talk and act like his hated stepmother.

Childhood cruelty unhinges a man named Frank Ellington as he gets possession of the house where his stepmother tortured him. But he is convinced to relocate there by his wife whom he soon suspects to be an agent of his dead stepmother.
