The Long, Long Sleep

Norman Hill, science fiction writer and advertising executive, is experiencing more frequent pains in his chest. His doctor advises an immediate operation, explaining that such surgery is usually only 50 percent successful. Hill is certain he is going to die and, while under the anesthesia, dreams his doctor has made a fatal mistake. He starts his journey to death, which he finds most interesting.

Facing risky surgery for a life-threatening illness, Norman Hill finds himself haunted by dark, ominous premonitions of death that threaten to paralyze him while he desperately looks for proof that he is still alive even as his grip on reality becomes increasingly tenuous.
