The Longest Knife
A mother makes a promise to avenge her son who has been murdered by a third world dictator.
A woman vows to get revenge for her boy who was killed by a foreign tyrant.
A restaurant owner in an obscure Latin American country, Mama Pilar vows revenge on the nation’s dictator when she learns he ordered the execution of her only son. Through careful planning, she is able to entice the food-loving ruler to eat a sumptuous meal (poisoned maybe?) at her place. But all he asks for—his dictator’s orders—is two soft-boiled eggs, tea and a slice of toast.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
