The Only Blood

After refusing to pay blood money to the local mafia, an immigrant shoe-maker becomes the target of their ire. Angered by their misdeeds, the man hatches a plot for revenge. Meanwhile, the mob leader is torn between business and his daughter's love.

When a foreign shoemaker won't pay protection money to the neighborhood gang, they mark him for punishment. Fed up with their crimes, the man plans to strike back. At the same time, the gang boss struggles between running his operation and his daughter's romance.

Anthony Boda, a poor Italian shoemaker, refuses to give in to gangsters seeking protection money from area shopkeepers. Boda’s outrage at the injustice of the mob’s illegal methods soon turns to revenge when his wife and son are killed by the gang. Although thwarted when attempts to kill Al Karley, the mob’s leader, Boda finds himself in a position to bring off Karley’s death by refusing to donate blood, a rare type which he and Karley share.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
