The Outsider

In the late 1940s, the citizens of Hanover Hills felt a terrific rumbling underground, resulting in a giant fissure opening up on a nearby hill, from which came a curious vapor. Since then, not a person, car, truck, train or bus has entered or left Hanover Hills. No one has grown a day older; no one has died; not a single child has been born. Doug Watson’s arrival causes a joyous celebration. Hanover Hill’s residents are sure he has been sent to lead them back into the real world.

After missing his train stop, a man finds himself in a cursed town stuck in 1949; and the townsfolk see him as the messiah who will set them free.

A man misses his train stop and ends up in a haunted town trapped in 1949, where the people believe he is their savior who will rescue them.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
