The Pinkerton Method

The true story of the first private detective force in the United States. A Rock Island train carrying $22,000 in cash is robbed, and the express car's agent murdered. William Pinkerton, son of the founder of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency and a passenger on the train, agrees to track down the guilty. After leaving for a few days to investigate another train robbery, he returns to the Rock Island case to put to work, in a seemingly casual manner, the Pinkerton Method: "diligence, doggedness, studying character, knowing your man."

In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
