The Ripple Effect
A politician tries to get back embarrassing love letters from his angry former lover, but his plan accidentally starts a series of problems that could destroy his life and hurt everyone close to him.
Emerson Maitland, who wants his district’s nomination for the House of Representatives, assures his party’s chairman that there are no scandals in his past. But Maitland is lying. A married man, he once had an affair with a younger woman to whom he wrote many passionate love letters. He hires a common thief to retrieve the letters, a move that sets in motion a rapid succession of events that results in three murders Maitland had no intention of committing.
In an attempt to recover several scandalous love letters from a bitter ex-mistress, a politician unwittingly sets off a chain of events that threaten to ruin his life, and the lives of those around him.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
