The Safe Judge
In his 30 years on the bench, Judge Ben Franklin Talbot has always acted without an ulterior motive, until Senator Ed Ashworth offers to postpone the judge’s retirement if he will dismiss charges against a drug dealer. Initially outraged, the judge’s son realizes that based on the evidence he may have to throw the case out of court and thus alienate his daughter, Nancy, who is sure her classmate is guilty and that her father is being bribed.
A respected judge's good name gets threatened when a dangerous crime boss uses dirty tricks to help his son escape drug charges, turning the honest judge into a target for blackmail.
When the son of the city's most fearsome gangsters pulls strings to get his son of drug possession charges, an upstanding judge finds his reputation on the line and he himself becomes a victim of blackmail.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
