The Sand Castle

Every day, Maureen Hart returns to the same spot on the beach to make endless intricate sand castles that each night are wiped away by the tides. It takes a kindly young poet who manages the nearby bird sanctuary and an elderly naturalist to unravel the mystery of her long afternoons at the shore.

A childhood trauma causes a young woman to compulsively build sand castles everyday as a result of witnessing her little brother drown in her youth. A worried friend and her mother try to put an end to her madness.

A young woman can't stop building sand castles every day because she saw her little brother drown when they were kids. Her friend and mother try to help her break free from this strange habit that controls her life.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
