The Sinister Shadow
An unusual tale of how a timid woman chanced upon her doppelganger in a seedy bar, and how her double turned against her.
A shy woman stumbles into a run-down bar where she meets her exact double, but her twin soon becomes her enemy.
Instead of going directly home from the bank as she has every other afternoon, Dorrie stops at a bar and grill and meets a woman who looks just like her. Dorrie, who has always been afraid of her mother, changes her drab clothing and hair styles to those her double prefers. They keep meeting at the bar, and Dorrie keeps arriving home late. When Dorrie finally explains why she is being detained, her mother becomes infuriated. Dorrie retaliates by threatening to kill her. But her double tells her not to worry—she has already committed the dastardly act.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
