The Spit And Image

After retiring from football, Gil Stevens is offered a job he can’t refuse: to impersonate a man he physically resembles, Durward Drake, international playboy, financier, sportsman and heir to the Drake Machine Company fortune. Stevens’ employers, aides to Drake, explain that the billionaire, now a recluse, needs an impostor to make public appearances to prove that he is alive. However, Stevens soon suspects that the whole deal may lead to several dead ends, including his own. But his job is at the center of a game with much higher stakes than the Super Bowl. Notes: Michael Tolan played Dr. Alex Tazinski on the television series The Nurses, from 1964 to ’65. He also played Jordan Boyle on The Senator, a short-run television drama during the 1970-71 season.

A former football player's fortunes change when he gets a strange job working as a double for a quirky rich man.

His luck takes a turn for the better when an ex-football player lands an unusual job-- to be the stand in for an eccentric billionaire.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
