The Venus d’Ile
Venus has always been a tricky, tempestuous goddess for those who are aware of mythology. An unlucky gambler consents to a marriage for wealth and carelessly places the wedding ring on a Venus statuette. The situation turns tricky when the goddess comes to life and asks for his heart or his life.
A down-on-his-luck gambler agrees to marry for money and accidentally puts the wedding ring on a statue of Venus. Things get dangerous when the goddess wakes up and demands he give her his heart or she'll kill him.
A young French nobleman burdened by gambling debt attempts to marry wealthy, but after placing his ring on a bronze Venus statue, the goddess demands his love or his life.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
