The Whimpering Pond
A writer goes to see old friends at a country house far from town. He spots a strange person in the fog around an old pond. Later, he finds out a woman went missing there and discovers her ghost still wanders the place.
Paul and Diana Brooks have bought their house from a heartbroken lawyer whose wife suddenly disappeared about seven years ago. Suddenly, while houseguest Sam Fowler, a distant relative of the missing woman, visits the Brooks’, a shadowy figure across the pond appears, pleading for help. Is this just an illusion, brought about by the fog and evening mist, or could it be that someone is reaching out from the grave for vengeance?
While visiting old friends at remote country manor, a novelist chances upon a mysterious figure within the mists shrouding an old pond. He later learns of the strange disappearance of woman and realizes that her restless spirit is haunting the area.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
