The Widow's Auxiliary

A young engineer feels honored when his boss asks him to become a member of the town's men's club. But the engineer has no idea that the group wants to exploit his technical abilities for their secret plans, and only his wife can rescue him from their trap.

When Carl Simms is invited to join the Executives Club, wife Julie is excited until Rose Lathrop informs her that all members are robots whose brains were mechanized during initiation. Julie tries to dissuade Carl but fails. She joins Rose in a dangerous plan to save Carl and destroy the club controlled by another planet.

When his boss invites him to join the local men's association, a young engineer is extremely flattered. What he doesn't know is that the club plans to use his mechanical skills for their own agenda; and it is up to the young man's wife to save him.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
