Two Renegades

Bernard O'Keefe, one of the most expert United States confidence men, is himself conned into leading an army of peasants against Panama's tyrannical General Pomposo. But they turn out to be an army of deserters, and when the charge begins, O'Keefe finds himself alone. He is taken prisoner and given three weeks to live. Only Dr. Milliken can save him, but he is an unreconstructed rebel and O'Keefe must take the oath of the Confederacy before the doctor will lift a finger on his behalf.

A smooth-talking American crook gets trapped in a Central American harbor town where he's caught between a jealous brother, the woman's forced marriage to a soldier, and a brewing war. He turns to a grumpy old doctor for military advice to outsmart the local crime boss and survive the uprising, but he still needs to figure out how to get out alive.

Unable to escape from the violent jealousies of her brother and the army he forces her to marry, an American con man in a Central American port town staves off the big boss and revolution by borrowing military wisdom from a cranky doctor. Then he still must find a way to escape with his skin intact.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
