Waste Paper
During an investigation into the brutal killing of a cleaning woman in a commercial complex, a lady detective discovers that the deceased was actually living a double-life.
While looking into the violent murder of a janitor at an office building, a female cop finds out the dead woman was secretly leading two different lives.
Detective Gertrude Millrose is finally given, by her sexist superiors, a chance to investigate a murder. Captain Roger Williams considers the killing of a chairwoman a routine case and allows Millrose just one day to work on it. But he is forced to give her an extension when the clues she turns up—a noisy vacuum cleaner, unexplained donations of money and the chairwoman’s interest in waste paper—transform the case into one of more than passing interest.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
