In this fictional tale set in the year 1498, Leonardo da Vinci is commissioned to paint the image of a silk merchant's wife. Playfully altering the woman's natural smile, he came up with a masterpiece that will eventually become an integral part of art history, the Mona Lisa.

Mona Lisa Del Giocondo’s rich husband has commissioned the famed Leonardo da Vinci to paint a portrait of his wife. The fascinating thing about this lovely young woman is her hypnotic smile. However, after the artist displays his masterpiece, the model’s husband and acquaintances take a sudden and violent dislike for her. Is it her new-found fame?

In 1498, a silk merchant hires Leonardo da Vinci to paint a portrait of his wife. When Leonardo changes the woman's smile in a playful way, he creates a famous masterpiece that will become one of the most important paintings in art history - the Mona Lisa.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
