Kerides, The Thinker
Description
In 2006 Jim French Productions added Kerides, The Thinker to its ensemble of radio series; the creation of writers Iain McLaughlin and Claire Bartlett. A mystery series set in Alexandria, Egypt in approximately 276 B.C. The central characters were Kerides, a young Greek scholar who comes to Alexandria on the recommendation of his teacher, and Adrea, an outspoken young former slave girl freed when her owner was executed for murder. Kerides' penchant for observation and logical thinking enabled him to solve crimes, particularly murders, gaining the attention and patronage of Pharaoh's Grand Vizier and the commander of the Palace Guard. Co-creator Iain McLaughlin described it as having 'a bit of a Third Man vibe - lots of fun and flirting as well as horrible murders.' The character of Erimem originally appeared in the 'The Eye of the Scorpion' episode of the Big Finish audio version of Doctor Who.
