Dad is going through a rough time with his football team this season, while Connie gets ready for a date with someone who isn't real. The show features Paul Douglas and Maureen O'Hara, with William Keighley as the host. Louis Silvers handles the music, and John Milton Kennedy is the announcer. The cast includes Betty Lynn, Norma Jean Nilsson, Jim Backus, Willard Waterman, Ruth Perrott, Eddie Firestone, Gil Stratton, Charles Woolf, William Johnstone, Edward Marr, Walter Craig, Harold Davis, Eddie Kane, Becky Porter, Ann Tobin, and Dorothy Lovett as the commercial speaker for Libby. Leslie Gaye appears as a guest during intermission. The episode was written by Aleen Leslie, Casey Robinson, and Mary Loos, based on a story by Clifford Goldsmith. Fred MacKaye directed the show, Sanford Barnett adapted it, and Charlie Forsyth created the sound effects.
Lux Radio Theatre, sometimes spelled Lux Radio Theater, a classic radio anthology series, was broadcast on the NBC Blue Network (1934–35) ; CBS Radio network (1935–54), and NBC Radio (1954–55). Initially, the series adapted Broadway plays during its first two seasons before it began adapting films. These hour-long radio programs were performed live before studio audiences. The series became the most popular dramatic anthology series on radio, broadcast for more than 20 years and continued on television as the Lux Video Theatre through most of the 1950s. The primary sponsor of the show was Unilever through its Lux Soap brand.
