Newspaper Story Appears
Pepper writes a piece for the Elmwood Free Press that tells everyone about Peggy's plans to marry Carter Trent. Pepper's dad, Sam Young, is heading to Chicago for work because his business is having money troubles. He's going to meet with Curt Bradley to talk about a deal that could help them both out. The next morning at breakfast, Curt's son Biff finds out that his father called the night before. In the newspaper, Carter gets called "the heir to one of America's great fortunes." Peggy feels awful because she knows Carter hates being in the news. His mom and dad don't even know yet that he wants to get married. The story ends up on the front page. The announcer says "Poor Peggy. How is she ever going to tell Carter that Pepper is the one who put this story in the paper?"
Pepper Young's Family is a daytime drama series, with various format and title changes during its long run from 1932 to 1959. It was created and written by short story author and playwright Elaine Sterne Carrington.
