Star Wars

Description

George Lucas' original 'Star Wars' movie was produced as a radio drama after the film became a hit. The 1981 dramatization aired on NPR and went beyond the movie's scope, following the pre-release novelization; 13 30-minute episodes. After 'The Empire Strikes Back', a radio version of the sequel aired (10 30-minute episodes). 'The Return of the Jedi' finally reached radio in fall 1996, first in 2 parts on NPR (Oct 19-20) as part of a pledge weekend, later broken into 6 30-minute episodes. The full trilogy is available on cassette and CD. The log is in 3 parts (STAR WARS, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, THE RETURN OF THE JEDI); 'The Making of Star Wars For Radio' is included in the STAR WARS list.
