The Adventures of Harry Nile

A detective series written and produced by Jim French in Bellevue, WA, begun January 1, 1976. Harry Nile, a fictional private detective in Los Angeles and Seattle during the 1940s, 50s and 60s, was the title character of this New-Time Radio detective series. Harry started out as a cop; his real last name was Niletti, changed before joining the force to protect his family from Mob retaliation. After his blues-singer wife was killed in a night club shooting and he exposed precinct-wide corruption, he was forced to resign from the Chicago police, ran up gambling debts, and traveled to L.A. to do a 'little favor' for a casino owner/crime boss - ending up staying on the West Coast as a private eye, first in Los Angeles and later Seattle. He was aided by his associate Murphy, a red-haired former librarian who debuted in 'The Twenty Dollar Trackdown.' Harry's World War II adventures are chronicled in the sub-series War Comes To Harry Nile. The series survived a 12-year hiatus (1978-1990).
