The story of Dr. Bela Schick, the famous pediatrician and inventor of, "The Schick Test," which indicated the presence of Diphtheria. The vaccine he developed led to eradication of the disease. "A teacher must also learn." After-drama speaker: Dr. Leroy Burney, Surgeon General of the United States. Dr. Burney is introduced as speaking from Washington, D.C. In one of the program's most embarrasing on-air mistakes, the recording of Dr. Burney is played back at too fast a speed (perhaps at 45 rpm). It takes 16 seconds before the turntable engineer corrects the error, it must have seemed like, "an eternal disaster" to the engineers.

The Eternal Light was an American radio and television program on the NBC Radio Network, produced in conjunction with the Jewish Theological Seminary, that was broadcast between 1944 and 1989. Featuring interviews, commentary, and award-winning dramas from the perspective of Judaism, it began on radio in 1944 and continued as a weekly radio program through 1989. A 1946 program, for example, dramatized humanitarian Lillian Wald's founding of New York City's Henry Street Settlement in 1895. The May 31, 1959, program featured a tour of the Holy Land narrated by Ralph Bellamy.
